Miniature Reproduction Oil Paintings

Over the last 25 years, Leslie Smith has taken his 30 years’ experience as a professional artist into the field of one twelfth scale miniature paintings. His museum quality reproductions in oils of Old Master Paintings include 17th to 19th century flower paintings and still lifes, Georgian portraits, landscapes and marine subjects. He specialises in the work of Vermeer, portraits by Gainsborough, George Stubbs’ horses and dogs, and the still life paintings of Chardin. Recently he has been painting original garden landscapes in miniature, each picture therefore being a unique composition.

Leslie paints with oils on ivorine, a synthetic version of ivory. He makes his own frames from boxwood mouldings by Wood Supplies or uses resin frames by John. J. Hodgson. He is happy to research any artists for commissions on request.

Leslie’s work has been purchased by museums and collectors worldwide. His trio of large history paintings after Benjamin West are among a number of Leslie’s works featured in Mulvany and Rogers’ magnificent model of Spencer House at the Kathleen Savage Browning Miniatures Collection at the Kentucky Gateway Museum Centre, Kentucky.
